As a resident of the Pacific Northwest for most of my life, I am avid in outdoor sports, adventures, and travel. My experience has shown me that it is important recognize the connection between physical and mental health. Devoted to family and friends, I believe that relationships take work and dedication, understanding, patience, and empathy. All these elements are brought into the therapeutic relationship, and I find the perspective of unconditional positive regard, meeting people where they are, as key and essential in working with clients.

About

Dana Fuller

Therapeutic Approach

Clients I have had the privilege to work with have presented with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, depression, adjustment disorders, grief group work, family relationship difficulties, ADHD, ODD, personality disorders, and behavioral issues. I am guided and trained in several techniques that permit me to personalize the therapeutic process to my client’s needs. The approach that I take to therapy is guided by Person Centered Therapy, directed and focused on the client(s); Attachment Theory, examining family dynamics from growing up and how those relationships impact current relationships, emotional processing, and thought processes; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), examining thoughts, behaviors, and feelings to uncover unhealthy patterns and reach client determined goals; and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), utilizing mindfulness, interpersonal examination, emotion regulation, and acceptance to build healthy coping and processing skills.

Experience

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy Associate

Throughout my life I have developed a passion for working with people, and received an education and training to assist with building skills and a deeper understanding to connect with individuals as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Beginning with a associates degree in Spokane, WA at SCC, I earned multiple communication certifications while emphasizing on psychology studies. At Eastern Washington University, I excelled in my major of Developmental Psychology, gearing electives towards additional Psychology classes such as Educational Psychology and Leadership classes. At EWU, my schooling earned me a BS in Developmental Psychology with a Minor in Communications and an emphasis in Leadership. A completion of this education path was earned at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. My internship involved counseling individuals and families at Medical Lake School District. Here a team of supervisors have developed a program that offers free mental health services to community members, all managed and serviced through the school district. In addition, she worked with individuals and couples at Whitworth University Marriage and Family Therapy Center. In 2021 I earned my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and is currently licensed as a LMFT and have ran a successful private practice since the completion of schooling.

As a Marriage and Family therapist, interactions are examined from a systemic lens. From this outlook, therapy does not just focus on the individual, but is rather developed from the relationships, history, and interactions of a person’s life. Together we will work to examine these various dynamics, with the intent of alleviating distress, exploring goals, increasing self-awareness, and develop growth and success in the areas of concern. We will examine and challenge the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that contribute to the unhealthy aspects of your life and concentrate on your strengths and abilities to develop healthy patterns and coping skills. We will discuss the therapy process and what it will look like once therapeutic goals have been met and how we can complete our services together.
